SOLAR WELL
In 2006 Yvonne and I purchased a new pump solar system.
The new system pushes water from a depth of 60 feet at a rate of five gallons
of water in one minute. During a twelve hour period with ample sun, this
new system pushes about 7,000 gallons of water a day. This pasture is
leased
to John Wheeler, a local cattle rancher. The solar panels are 2 x 4 feet
in size and produce 30 to 330 volts D.C. The pump will work through
this voltage range before it stops running. If the water level drops, the
pump shuts down. This system is a very environmentally green energy
saving unit and will operate on partial cloudy days. The price of this
system varies from $5,000 to $7,000 depending on the number of solar
panels used to operate the system. When the sun is not present, a small
A.C. generator (1200 watts) will operate the pump. An electrical outlet
is available to operate the generator.
